Mungkin masih ada yang belum tahu jika novel karya Elisabeth Gilbert ini sudah siap ditayangkan filmnya di Bulan Agustus 2010 nanti. Novel yang bercerita tentang Gilbert sendiri yang melanglang buana ke berbagai belahan dunia, hanya untuk menemukan ketenangan diri dan cinta sejatinya. 

Dari New York, Milan, Roma, Paris, India, hingga menetap cukup lama di Bali. Ya Bali yang dikenal sebagai Pulau Dewata dengan sejuta pesonanya mampu memberikan jawaban akan hal-hal yang dicari oleh Gilbert. Hampir 80% syuting film ini dilakukan di pulau dewata ini. Hampir dipastikan, artis lokal Indonesia pun dicarinya baik sebagai pemeran pembantu ataupun hanya sebagai figuran saja.

Adalah Christine Hakim yang kali ini mendapatkan kesempatan untuk beradu akting dengan Julia Robert (Gilbert) selama di Bali. Wayan (tokoh yang diperankan Christine Hakim) adalah seorang ibu rumah tangga yang menjadi sahabat karib Gilbert dan tempat mencurahkan segala isi hatinya.  Disana pun Gilbert bertemu dengan seorang dukun Ketut Liyer (diperankan sendiri oleh Ketut) yang menjadi tokoh sentral dalam pencarian ketenangan jiwa. Disana pula, gilbert mendapatkan tambatan hati cinta sejatinya.

Sungguh indah gambaran pulau Bali ini dalam trailer resmi yang dirilis oleh Columbia Pictures. Rilis di Amerika Serikat tanggal 13 Agustus 2010, sementara tayang di Indonesia 22 September 2010.
